This post is part of a series of weekly e-mails that I send out to my e-mail list every Friday about my week as a digital nomad. It’s a little modified from its original form to look more like a blog post, but it’s still very similar to its original form. Enjoy!

What is up!

I hope you’re having yourself a next level Friday, wherever you are in the world!

That being said, here’s your weekly dose of the life of a digital nomad:

Where I’m traveling

After over two months around the Middle East, I just landed in Turkey (though it feels more like I’m in Ancient Rome) and thus I’m getting real close to Europe. Feels so weird, hey!

What I’m reading

This week I spent a lot less time reading than I wanted to, but I still managed to finish one really cool book that’s called: “7 Day Startup“. The writer, Dan Norris, basically describes how you can launch and test a business in only 7 days, so that you wouldn’t waste time on ideas that don’t have a lot of potential.

I’m a big supporter of launching things fast, because these days everything changes so fast that it doesn’t make sense to write long business plans or try to foresee everything that’ll happen in the next few years.

It’s much better to launch something, test it and figure out what to do next 🙂

If you agree with me on this one, check that book out!

What I’m working on

If you watched this video of mine, you will know that for the past few years I’ve been working on this online coupons company called ChameleonJohn.

Even though the business is doing really well, I recently realized I don’t enjoy working on it anymore…

Don’t get me wrong – I love working with my partners and our team, but I just feel like I’m not learning new stuff anymore as I’m doing the same thing as I was doing a few years back.

So… long story short, I decided to take a little step back and start some new projects.

I still don’t know what other ventures I’ll start, but I’ll definitely keep you posted 🙂

Best on BeNomad

This week we published such a good post on BeNomad that I (almost) want to cry haha!

It’s about an awesome digital nomad from Malaysia, who travels the world while having a full-time remote job (as an SEO specialist) and gets paid 10 to 15 times more than the average Malaysian.

His name is Asad and he’s an absolute legend. Read his story here!

Nomad of the week

Our nomad of the week is ma boy Matt from the sunny California!

Matt has been an active entrepreneur for years now, but only became a digital nomad earlier this year.

He currently has a real estate photography business; a Kindle book publishing business; an Amazon FBA business; and a YouTube digital nomad/travel channel.

I have no idea how he manages all of that, but hey, he makes it all work and I’m super happy for him!

I asked him for some tips to our aspiring digital nomad community and he came back with some legendary words of wisdom:

“Most people don’t realize is that traveling the world, most times, is cheaper than staying home. It depends on what you decide to do while you travel of course, but most of the time selling all your stuff and not having a house, car, bills, or any material possessions to attend to really cuts a ton of cost. My advice to anyone looking to start traveling for long periods of time… JUST GO!

Ohh… and one more thing. Don’t take advice on traveling from people that hardly travel. They some how always have the most to say…”

Well said, Matt, well said!

If you want to learn more about Matt’s travels, check him out on YouTube!

Do something really fun and cool and new and legendary and epic this weekend and… I’ll see you next week!

Signing off,
Ye boy Jacob.
